Reel Consulting ("we," "us") is an independent software development and consulting business based in California. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Information you send us. If you email us or contact us about a project, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you choose to include in your message.
- Client project information. When we build or maintain software for a client, we may handle information that the client provides about its own users, such as names, email addresses, and account activity. We handle that information only to deliver the services the client has engaged us for.
- Basic technical information. Our hosting providers may automatically log standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and reliability purposes.
How we use information
- To respond to inquiries and communicate with clients.
- To build, test, operate, and support software systems for our clients.
- To send transactional emails generated by those systems, such as account invitations, password resets, and notifications triggered by a user's own activity.
- To keep our services secure and working properly.
We do not send marketing or promotional email, and we do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
Client systems
When we work on a system owned by a client, that client decides what information is collected from its users and why. We act on the client's behalf as a service provider. The client's own privacy policy governs how that information is used. Questions about your data in a client's system should go to that client, and we will assist them in responding.
Service providers
We use trusted third-party providers to run our services, including hosting, database, and email delivery providers (for example, Mailgun for sending transactional email). These providers process information only as needed to perform services for us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, to meet our obligations to clients, or as required by law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections, access controls, and limiting access to those who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting information seriously.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including California, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. To make a request, contact us at the address below. If your request concerns a client's system, we will refer it to that client.
Children
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it was last changed.
